🌟 Meet Jack “J.C.” McKissen
JC's story is a powerful reminder that where we begin does not determine where we finish.
He was the first person in his family to earn a bachelor's degree, beginning an unconventional educational journey after barely graduating high school. His career started serving veterans experiencing homelessness through AmeriCorps and U.S.VETS before taking him into public service, nonprofit and association leadership, communications, entrepreneurship, and writing.
Then, in 2014, something extraordinary happened: JC found his voice on LinkedIn.
A post he wrote went viral, helping transform his career and eventually grow his community to more than 100,000 followers. Today, he is a three-time LinkedIn Top Voice whose writing has reached millions of readers. He has written for and contributed to major publications and has served as a writer and editor for LinkedIn, an Inc. columnist, and a Voice of the Governing Institute.
But this conversation isn't really about followers.
It's about finding your voice—and having the courage to use it for something that matters.
💡 What You Will Learn…
✨ How JC transformed adversity and an unconventional beginning into purpose, leadership, and impact.
✨ Why he believes, “To be a thought leader, you've got to have thoughts that lead people.”
✨ How to find your authentic voice—and why leaders sometimes need the courage to lose followers rather than lose their principles.
✨ How JC reinvented his career through writing and what his journey teaches us about overcoming fear and impostor syndrome.
✨ Why LinkedIn should be about relationships, generosity, and adding value, not simply collecting connections.
✨ Why JC encourages people to talk to strangers and how one genuine relationship can change the trajectory of a career.
✨ What leaders are getting wrong about AI, jobs, economic disruption, and the future of work—and why human dignity must remain part of the conversation.
✨ Why authentic human voices may become more valuable, not less valuable, in the age of AI.
✨ What serving veterans experiencing homelessness taught JC about resilience, dignity, empathy, and leadership.
✨ How fatherhood, family, faith, and becoming the first college graduate in his family shaped his understanding of legacy.
✨ And the powerful philosophy behind JC's words:
“If you receive a miracle, you owe one.”
