I’m excited to welcome Ms. Tam Lawrence to the Leadership & Success Podcast with Coach BZ, Season 5: Episode 172 for a conversation about what it means to stop waiting for permission—and start building.
Tam is a publicist, journalist, publisher, brand architect, strategic communications executive, author, broadcaster, entrepreneur, playwright, and civic-media innovator whose career spans more than two decades.
She is the Founder and CEO of PIQSTAR INC., PBC, a Wisconsin Public Benefit Corporation focused on civic-media infrastructure, and the force behind Exposure Plus TV. Her journey has crossed the stage, newsroom, statehouse, public relations, publishing, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and media ownership.
But what makes Tam's story especially compelling to me is the evolution behind those accomplishments:
She learned how to tell stories.
She helped others tell their stories.
She published stories.
She built platforms to distribute stories.
And now she's working to help communities and journalists own the infrastructure that carries their stories forward.
That is leadership. 💯
📚 What You Will Learn…
✨ The Courage to Build: Why leaders must sometimes stop asking, “Where can I find an opportunity?” and start asking, “What can I build?”
✨ Betting on Yourself: What decades of entrepreneurship have taught Tam about reinvention, resilience, asking for help, and moving forward when success is anything but guaranteed.
✨ Turning Pain into Purpose: How adversity can inform leadership, advocacy, service, and purpose without becoming the entirety of your identity.
✨ Reclaiming the Screen: Why Tam believes independent journalists and communities need more than social-media accounts—they need greater ownership of their platforms, audiences, intellectual property, archives, and stories.
✨ The Future of Civic Journalism: How PIQSTAR's vision for branded newsrooms and community-centered journalism could help address local “Media Black Outs” and create new pathways for independent journalists.
✨ Leadership in the AI Era: What happens to trust, authenticity, journalism, and human storytelling as AI transforms how information is produced and distributed.
