What happens when the uniform comes off—but the mission continues?

1SG Eric Brew, USA (Ret.) is a retired First Sergeant, former Marine, veteran advocate, mentor, coach, husband, father, grandfather, and servant leader whose journey demonstrates that some of our greatest opportunities to lead begin after the title changes.

Eric's military journey began in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1996 and continued in the U.S. Army, culminating in nearly 25 years of military service and leadership as a First Sergeant. But Eric's transition from military service challenged him in ways even decades of leadership and resilience training had not fully prepared him for.

Rather than hiding the difficult chapters, Eric turned them into a new mission.

After receiving help from Still Serving Veterans, he eventually began helping other transitioning service members. He later championed mentorship through American Corporate Partners (ACP), carrying a message every transitioning Warrior needs to hear:

“Transition is a team sport.”

Today, Eric serves as Georgia Director for Warriors Set Free, helping Veterans, military personnel, First Responders, and other Warriors pursue faith, healing, freedom, identity, and purpose. His wife, Shequita—herself an Army Veteran—serves alongside him in this mission.

 

And one of Eric's #Brewisms perfectly captures why I wanted him on Leadership & Success:
